Last to Make It Home Lyrics

[Pre-Chorus]
Though I am a soundboard to some
With myself I am not so forgiving

[Chorus]
I'm the last to make it home
I'm the last to call it off
I'm the last to make my bed
And last to bring home the bread
And last to make it home
I'm the last to make it home
I'm the last to call it off
I'm the last to make my bed
Last to bring home the bread
Last to make it home

[Outro]
Mary, looked like a mirage
Glimmering silver in sunken eyes

What did Sam Fender say about "Last to Make It Home"?
Genius Answer

At the beginning, I’m talking to the Virgin Mary, a Mary pendant. I’m realising I need to get ahold of myself. In the second half, Mary becomes personified. She becomes just some girl on Instagram. It’s that like desperate, horrible shit line of ‘Hit the 'like’/In the hopes I’d coax you out of my derelict fantasy.‘ In the hopes that I’d be noticed. It’s really an anthem for losers—because we’ve all been a loser once. I’ve been a loser hundreds of times.
