NO WHIMPERS (Ft. Tove Lo) Lyrics

[Verse 1: Scroobius Pip]
High like top of my game
I ain't stopping the gain
I ain't dropping the pain
I can't do that
So I gotta abstain
[?] strange
I'm the king of this game
And I'll prove that
Regret's never part of the plan but it's reality
Inspirational quotes from Instagram won't carry me
Breaking is a real eventuality
So I'm blocking and I'm locking
My goals and some clarities [?]

[Pre-Chorus: Tove Lo]
Staying in my play pretend
Where the fun ain't got no end
Staying in my play pretend
Where the fun ain't got no end
Staying in my play pretend
Where the fun ain't got no end
Oh
Can't go home alone again
Need someone to numb the pain
Can't go home alone again
Need someone to numb the pain
Can't go home alone again
Need someone to numb the pain
Oh
Staying in my play pretend
Where the fun ain't got no end
Oh
Can't go home alone again
Need someone to numb the pain
[Chorus: Tove Lo]
You're gone and I gotta stay
High all the time
To climb to
High all the time
To climb to
High all the time
To keep you off my mind

High all the time
To climb to
High all the time
To climb to
High all the time
To keep you off my mind

[Verse 2: Scroobius Pip]
High like top of my game
I ain't stopping the gain
I ain't dropping the pain
I can't do that
So I gotta abstain
[?] strange
I'm the king of this game
And I'll prove that
My life's like that Rihanna song if I'm candid
If it ain't work I don't understand it

It's like mice of men planned it
Scratch that, rats, and they're somewhat heavy handed
[Pre-Chorus: Tove Lo]
Staying in my play pretend
Where the fun ain't got no end
Staying in my play pretend
Where the fun ain't got no end
Staying in my play pretend
Where the fun ain't got no end
Oh
Can't go home alone again
Need someone to numb the pain
Can't go home alone again
Need someone to numb the pain
Can't go home alone again
Need someone to numb the pain
Oh
Staying in my play pretend
Where the fun ain't got no end
Oh
Can't go home alone again
Need someone to numb the pain

[Chorus: Tove Lo]
You're gone and I gotta stay
High all the time
To climb to
High all the time
To climb to
High all the time
To keep you off my mind
High all the time
To climb to
High all the time
To climb to
High all the time
To keep you off my mind

[Verse 3: Scroobius Pip]
High like top of my game
I ain't stopping the pain
I ain't dropping the gain
Ah fuck

Alright, fuck it
No whimpers
No nimbus
No no pictures
No hope lingers
Get stuck and regret it
Ah fuck it, forget it

Genius Annotation

Rapped over the Hippie Sabotage remix of Tove Lo’s ‘Habits’. Here’s what Scroobius Pip has to say about NO WHIMPERS

Let me tell you a story, because this is the second time this has happened.
Some of you will know about my song No Nimbus.
Basically I was driving one day, having had a rough few months, and I heard this song in my car.
On that drive I started to write some lyrics over it.
The next day I recorded them.
And, without getting all Craig David, within one week the song was written, recorded, had a video shot & was up for your eyes and ears.
Well…it’s happened again.
I was driving a long drive home last week and a song I’ve been familiar with for sometime came on my shuffle but, for some reason, this time I was hearing all the gaps.
By the time I’d got home, I’d written my whole vocal.
I recorded it and fired it to Worgie.
As well as the vocal, I’d planned a video in my head.
So I sent an email out to Tom Coles (who has shot and co-directed everything since we came up with Introdiction), Chris Glasson (of the drunk podcasts and many projects over the years) and Gemma Stoddard (an amazingly talented choreographer and friend of ours).
We met the next night and started to plan this video.
Tom and I love a one shot so that was the plan once again.
Through Facebook posts on Wednesday we managed to get Amy, Caroline, Holly & Liam to volunteer their dance skills.
When we met Friday evening at 7pm none of them had heard the track.
By 10pm Gemma had choreographed the whole thing, the dancers had learned it and, with Tom shooting from a borrowed wheel chair Chris & I strapped a load of torches too, we had shot the video.
Saturday I edited it together (you’ll see that, whilst there are no cuts, there is some magic).
And on the 7th day I rested/watched Progress & EBI.
And that is the story of how we got to… No Whimpers.
Enjoy.
