What did Shinedown say about "2184"?
Genius Answer

Brent Smith:

The intro is a bit of an homage to 1984—Orwell’s book, not necessarily the Van Halen album, which is also badass beyond belief. But the album starts with that kind of ‘80s synth feeling, where we want the listener to be like, 'What are they doing? What is this?’ And then, the next song hits like a sledgehammer.
