Midnight Hour Lyrics

[Verse 1: Ty Dolla $ign]
I did my best, wasn't good for you
I was the best for both of you
Family and friends, they are close to you
Damn, it's so hard to get over you

[Pre-Chorus: Ty Dolla $ign]
Late in the midnight hour
You made the worst decisions
I was always there to listen
But this time

[Chorus]
Let me talk
Work, work
Let me talk
Work, work
I love it when they try to get

[Verse 2: Ty Dolla $ign]
Tried to prove myself to you baby
I been stayin' down, waiting patient
Taking me through all of your phases
How you trade it all, trading places

[Pre-Chorus: Ty Dolla $ign]
Late in the midnight hour
You made the worst decisions
I was always there to listen
Not this time
[Chorus: City Girls]
Let me talk
I bet your lil' sister wanna look like me
I bet your lil' brother wanna **** on me
Hood, hood
Let me talk like
And it's like

I bet your lil' sister wanna look like me
I bet your lil' brother wanna **** on
I love it when they try to get
Let me talk like
I bet your lil' s— wanna look like me
I bet your lil' b— wanna **** on me
Let me talk like
And it's like

I bet your lil' s— wanna look like me
I bet your lil' b— wanna **** on me
I love it when they try to get

[Verse 3: Ty Dolla $ign]
Feel like the best in America
Don't make me have to embarrass you
Run with me, she like a marathon
Just love me down all the way home
Come with no drama, ain't ever been wrong
I know you ain’t putting me in the friend zone
Might touch down I’m in the end zone
Bust down on my wrist though

Genius Annotation

“Midnight Hour” was first played at Brownies & Lemonade Miami Music Week 2019. Though officially released as a Skrillex song, the track is a collaboration with Boys Noize, who when paired with Skrillex make the group Dog Blood. Vocals are provided by frequent Skrillex collaborator and singer Ty Dolla $ign.

Since the first preview, the song has consistently changed, relying on samples for the drops' basis. After being performed at various festivals by Skrillex and friend Four Tet, plus recent OWSLA signee Salvatore Ganacci; the track was finally released on August 29th, leaking two weeks prior through digital store Beatport. The final version interpolates Cassie’s “Long Way 2 Go” in the chorus and samples the City Girls' “Act Up.”
