Miss You Lyrics

[Verse: Julian Perretta]
Don't remind me
I'm mindin' my own damn business
Don't try to find me
I'm better left alone than in this
It doesn't surprise me
Do you really think that I could care?
If you really don't like me
Find somebody else, it could be anyone else out there

[Chorus: Julian Perretta]
Don't fret
I don't ever wanna see you
And I never wanna meet you again
One thing
When you're angry, you're a jerk
And then you treat me like I'm worth nothin'
Don't fret
I don't ever wanna see you
And I nеver wanna meet you again
It'll happen again
I watch it happen ovеr and over again
Don't fret
I don't ever wanna see you
And I never wanna meet you again
One thing
When you're angry, you're a jerk
And then you treat me like I'm worth nothin'
[Verse: Julian Perretta]
Don't remind me
I'm mindin' my own damn business
Don't try to find me
I'm better left alone than in this
It doesn't surprise me
Do you really think that I could care?
If you really don't like me
Find somebody else, it could be anyone else out there

[Chorus: Julian Perretta]
Don't fret
I don't ever wanna see you
And I never wanna meet you again
One thing
When you're angry, you're a jerk
And then you treat me like I'm worth nothin'
Don't fret
I don't ever wanna see you
And I never wanna meet you again
It'll happen again
I watch it happen over and over again
Don't fret
I don't ever wanna see you
And I never wanna meet you again
One thing
When you're angry, you're a jerk
And then you treat me like I'm worth nothin'

Genius Annotation

‘Miss you’ is a rework inspired by a song by Oliver Tree called ‘Jerk.'

In Southstar’s original sample, released May 9th, he used Oliver Tree’s vocals from an a cappella version of “Jerk.” Southstar had finalized his instrumental track of ‘Miss you’ when he encountered an audio on TikTok featuring a sped-up version of Oliver’s lyrics; Southstar said he loved the lyrics so much he decided to put them on his track, despite not having authorization. After releasing his remix and gaining some traction, Atlantic Records, who would later produce a duplicate version of ‘Miss you’, came to Southstar and offered “less than £10,000 pounds” for the production rights to the song and to license his infringement. It was “not a nice offer” Southstar said after declining the offer. To avoid further copyright issues, Southstar re-recorded the vocals on his track with singer Julian Perretta and obtained lyrical clearance from the writers of “Jerk”- including Oliver Tree, Marshmello, and David Pramik.

Southstar eventually signed with B1 Recordings, a Sony subsidiary, and released his now legal version of ‘Miss you’ on July 30. Only 5 days later on August 5th, another version would be released by Atlantic Records with producer Robin Schulz and Oliver Tree also called ‘Miss You’. Despite many rumors online that Southstar had sold his song to Schulz, he confirmed shortly after that this new version of the song was a blatant copy, and his production was not sold to Schulz or anyone else.

I never sold this rework or my production. It is disappointing for me to see that an exact copy of my ‘Miss You’ rework is up under the name of another famous producer and is even being perceived as the original reworked version instead of mine.
