Danant Lyrics

I had to kill her
Because I loved her
I had to kill her
Because I loved her

If I cannot have her
Nobody else will
That's why I had to
That's why I had to
Kill

I thought she was mine
I thought she was sweet
I found out she was a cheat
She broke my heart
She made me cry

That's why she had to die
That's why she had to die
That's why she had to die

Don't ask me why
But she just had to die
I stabbed her, I killed her
She made me cry
I cut her up
And I put her in a bag
I killed her
And I stuck her in a hole
Someplace that no one will ever know

I had to kill her
Because I loved her
I had to kill her
Because I loved her

If I cannot have her
Then no one else will
That's why I had to
That's why I had to
Kill!

I thought she was mine
I thought she was sweet
I found out she was a cheat
She broke my heart
She made me cry

That's why she had to die
That's why she had to die
Ah, don't ask me why
But that girl just had to die
I stabbed her
I cut her
I killed her
But she made me cry

I cut her up
And I buried her in a hole
I buried her in some place
No one will ever know

Die
Little girl
Little girl
Little girl
Die

I had to kill her
Because I loved her
I had to kill her
Because I loved her

If I can't have her
Nobody else will
That's why I had to
That's why I had to
Kill
Die, die, die, die, die
Kill, kill, kill, kill

I loved her
I loved her
I loved her
I loved her

Genius Annotation

The meaning of the title ‘Danant’ is unknown. Only the singer and the rest of the band know. Perhaps it was the victim’s name or her nickname.

Very disturbing song delivered as an unhinged and proud confession by an utterly deranged, jealousy-ridden, possessive, obsessive, abusive, control freak of a ‘partner’ that violently murdered his companion in cold blood and with pleasure because she was a ‘cheat’. He announces to everyone not to ask him why he killed her, however, he knows the reason very well.

His inflection when delivering the lines ‘She made me cry’ and the creepy ‘I loved her’ refrains at the end convey real pain. The unsurmountable rage when saying ‘Kill’ and ‘Die’ are real too. When he says ‘Don’t ask me why but she just had to die’ and ‘I cut her up’ you can feel he truly believed there was no other choice. She was either his or nobody else’s.

His personality and way of treating her are what exactly caused her to cheat. You do not kill the person you love in such a gruesome manner, he even proceeds to describe every detail and boast no one is ever going to know or find her. The inflection even sounds like he is making fun of whomever tries to find out what happened.

Absolutely no remorse whatsoever, despite of what the affected lamenting sounds at the end of the song make you think.

He truly believed she deserved to die for what she did. Whilst what she did was indeed bad, his way was not the correct way to handle it. Complete damage control. Nothing else. There is a part where it sounds like he was enjoying and having fun whilst murdering her.

The intro to the song sounds like the actual murderer starting to slip away from reality and losing his mind over his companion’s wrongdoing. The ending sounds like the musical incarnation of true insanity. He went crazy.

The unbridled madness in Stratford’s voice is palpable and he delivers every word as if he actually did all of this; the drumming is even more hard-hitting than ever, the force applied to the snare drum sounding inhuman. The drumming sounds like actual stabs delivered to the victim’s body. The bass cuts through the song like a knife and at the same time sounds like her blood dripping off her body. Piercing.

Musically, it is one of Tales of Terror’s heaviest and most dissonant songs. There is no heavy metal shredding. No real structure. Unpredictable. Only frantic noise rock and noise hardcore chaos. Plus their signature ‘terrorific’ riffing. That’s the fear the victim felt.

This is why Guns ‘N Roses stole the song from Tales of Terror. After the dissolving of the band; their singer, Pat Stratford, skipped town and wandered around various locations until he arrived at Los Angeles, where he eventually met the Guns 'N Roses people and he stayed with them for a while.

He shared the song in question with them and the other songs as well, because their music is actually something to be proud of. The Guns ‘N Roses did not have it in them to make the song sound as perturbing as the original so instead they opted to make it acoustic, mellow and soft as well as to modify the lyrics so it would never be noticeable it was a stolen song.

The ruse worked. As this fact is largely still unknown by most music fans and critics/reviewers/journalists/whatever out there. Nevertheless, this is the real truth.
