“Why Is It So Hard?” was initially released as part of the soundtrack for the film “Firstborn” in 1985. The version included on “Asides Besides” is listed as a “7-inch mix” that was seemingly never released as a single.

This song is unique for being released as several different versions. The “Firstborn” mix is different to that of “Aside Besides,” and the band can be seen miming to it as part of the 1985 “Sanremo Music Festival.” There are also two 12-inch remixes that are derivative of this version, neither of which were included as part of “Aside Besides.”

Additionally, the song was re-recorded with an acoustic guitar and Hammond organ-driven arrangement for inclusion as part of the soundtrack for the German film “Zabou” in 1987.
