Live now, think later, I do it so well
Live now, think later, I do it so well
Fall hard, heart breaker, I want him, oh, well
Live now, think later, I do it so well (Woo)
[Verse 1]
Met you in a night out in Boston
Put your hand on my thigh in the Commons (Woo)
Been drinkin' somethin' blue, turn my phone off
'Cause if it's not you, I don't wanna talk
Don't know if it's been a minute or an hour
Kinda cute when you bribin' the bouncer
My friends got scared and they called the cops
But I'm just at the Ritz with the door locked
[Chorus]
Live now, think later, I do it so well
Live now, think later, I do it so well
Fall hard, heart breaker, I want him, oh, well
Live now, think later, I do it so well (Ah)
[Verse 2]
Dance with your hand in my back pocket
I picture your face in my neck locket (Ah)
Just give me your beatin' heart, I'll stop it, boy
Don't lie, I know you want it, yeah (Woo)
Gotta make a quick stop at the ATM
I know you won't make me pay, but I'll just pretend
Laughin' in the backseat of the black car
It's not a good night if you don't take it too far
Live now, think later, I do it so well
Live now, think later, I do it so well
Fall hard, heart breaker, I want him, oh, well
Live now, think later, I do it so well (Ah)
Live now, think later, I do it so well
Live now, think later, I do it so well
Fall hard, heart breaker, I want him, oh, well
Live now, think later, I do it so well (Ah)
[Bridge]
(Uh) Don't worry 'bout (Uh), don't think about (Uh)
Ain't stressin' 'bout not a fuckin' thing
(Uh) Don't worry 'bout (Uh), don't think about (Uh)
Ain't stressin' 'bout not a fuckin' thing
[Chorus]
Live now, think later, I do it so well
Live now, think later, I do it so well
Fall hard, heart breaker, I want him, oh, well
Live now, think later, I do it so well
About
On “think later”, McRae recalls a night out with a guy who she calls a “heartbreaker”. The guy she is out with makes McRae want to think later about their reckless actions and just live in the moment. In the bridge, McRae says she isn’t stressing or worrying about the “shit show” of a night. The track is inspired by the night McRae met her now ex boyfriend Cole Slinger, who she met in Boston after her concert.
In the first album teaser McRae mentions a night where she thought she would “shut off [her] phone” which she later found to be a “stupid idea”, which relates to the line in the song where she says “Been drinkin' somethin' blue, turn my phone off”. At the end of that teaser trailer, there was the first snippet of the track.

“think later” was also written the week before we turned in the album. We just wanted to make a super hard bass-heavy song with the ballsiest lyrics we could think of. I remember someone asking me, ‘What’s the most “think later” thing you’ve ever done?’ And I was like, ‘Well, when I met my ex-boyfriend.’ It was this really crazy story of me acting like a complete menace for a night, which is so hilarious because I’m a pretty shy Canadian, very goody-two-shoes, the majority of the time. For this one night, I remember shutting off my phone and just completely trying to get lost in the moment. It ended up being the most chaotic night of my life where everyone was stressed as to where I was. We basically told the story in the song and broke down this really chaotic night in my life. It was very much necessary for the album because it’s just an absolute perfect example of how this whole storm started.

We were in the, probably at the end of the writing process of the album and Tedder, who I worked with, who executive produced the album was like ‘do we have an album track yet?’ and I was like ‘no’. So then we were like ‘what’s the most, like, think later thing that has happened in the past, like, year of my life?’ and I was like ‘well, i have this one insane story’ and so then I literally just started, like, the entire song basically just paints out, like, step by step every single thing that went down on this one, like, really chaotic night of my life. I feel like it perfectly captures the overall feeling of the album.
