“Bad Ideas” is the third song on Tessa Violet’s second album with the same name. Tessa released a teaser for the song’s music video on YouTube on the 25th of November 2018. The actual music video was released on the 1st of December 2018.

The song tells of Tessa’s longing to be with someone even as she knows the relationship will end badly. It is a bad idea to even try, yet she does anyway, too obsessed with the feeling of infatuation. The theme is quite similar to her first single from the album, “Crush,” which also comes right before “Bad Ideas” in the tracklist. However, this song’s underlying bittersweet message is clearer than that of “Crush.”
