My Sweet Lord Lyrics

My sweet lord
My sweet lord
Oh, my sweet lord
Hey, my lord
I really wanna see you, lord
I really wanna know you, lord
I really wanna see you, lord
But it takes so long, my lord

My sweet lord (Hallelujah)
Ho, my lord (Hallelujah)
My, my sweet lord (Hallelujah)
Hey, my sweet lord (Hallelujah)
I really wanna see you (My lord)
I really wanna see you, lord (My lord)
I really wanna know you (My lord)
I really wanna be with you (My lord)
Hey, I really wanna be with you, lord (Hallelujah)
I really wanna see you, lord
But it takes so long, my lord (Hallelujah)

My sweet lord (Hallelujah)
Oh, my sweet lord (Hallelujah)
Hey, my sweet lord (Hallelujah)
Ho, my lord (Hallelujah)
I really wanna see you (My lord)
I really wanna know you (My lord)
I really wanna see you, lord
But it takes so long, my lord (Hallelujah)
My sweet lord (Hallelujah)
Hey, my lord (Hallelujah)
My, my sweet lord (Hallelujah)
Hey, my sweet lord (Hallelujah)
I really wanna see you (My lord)
I really wanna see you, lord (My lord)
I really wanna be with you, lord (Hallelujah)
I really wanna see you, lord
But it takes so long, my lord (Hallelujah)

He’s so fine (Hallelujah)
My sweet lord (Hallelujah)
I said, he’s so fine (Hallelujah)
Wish he were mine (Hallelujah)

Genius Annotation

This was a cover made in malice.

In 1963, a song by the Chiffons called He’s So Fine topped the charts in America. Eight years later, a man named George Harrison was sued for plagiarizing the song in his own #1 hit: My Sweet Lord. In 1975, The Chiffons themselves covered the song, in an attempt to draw attention to the lawsuit and the two songs’ similarities, even coyly sneaking in a “He’s so fine” or two. Finally, in February of 1976, almost exactly 5 years after the suit was filed, the court ruled in the favor of Bright Songs Music—in other words, The Chiffons.
