Lost in the Thick of It Lyrics

[Verse 1: Danny O'Reilly & Gabrielle Aplin]
I didn't need it, I said enough
The way you walked away, it really messed me up
I tried to salvage, left it alone
Won't make it better I could never do it all

[Chorus: Danny O'Reilly & Gabrielle Aplin]
I'm good for a little bit, but I
Get lost in the thick of it
I hate to say that I'm wrong
Feels better playing along
Hoping you don't notice it when I'm
Just a bit low-spirited, I gotta face it alone

[Post-Chorus: Danny O'Reilly & Gabrielle Aplin]
Do do do duh do doo
Do do do do doo
Do do do duh do doo
Do do do do doo
Do do do duh do doo
Do do do do doo
Do do do duh

[Verse 2: Danny O'Reilly & Gabrielle Aplin]
There must be nothing you've left to prove
Turn it into something that you never wanna lose
I want a lawyer, give me a good lawyer too
I'll say I'm guilty if it brings me back to you
[Chorus: Danny O'Reilly & Gabrielle Aplin]
I'm good for a little bit, but I
Get lost in the thick of it, sometimes
I hate to say that I'm wrong
Feels better playing along
Hoping you don't notice it when I'm
Just a bit low-spirited, and I, I gotta face it alone

[Bridge: Danny O'Reilly & Gabrielle Aplin]
Maybe we could meet up sometime
Just a little knees-up sometime
Walk until our feet hurt sometime
'Cause we're only growing, not unfolding (Sometime)
We used to be addicted one time
We couldn't even fake it one time
I guess that's when we drifted you're right
And I hope you know it's never over

[Chorus: Danny O'Reilly & Gabrielle Aplin]
I'm good for a little bit, but I
Get lost in the thick of it sometimes
I hate to say that I'm wrong
Feels better playing along
Hoping you don't notice it when I'm
Just a bit low-spirited, and I
I've gotta face it alone
[Post-Chorus: Danny O'Reilly & Gabrielle Aplin]
I'm good for a little bit (Just a bit low spirited)
I hate to say that I'm wrong
Feels better playing along
Hoping you don't notice it (Just a bit low spirited)
I've gotta face it alone

[Outro: Danny O'Reilly & Gabrielle Aplin]
Do do do duh do doo
Do do do do doo
Do do do duh do doo
Do do do do doo
Do do do duh do doo
Do do do do doo
Do do do duh

About

Genius Annotation

“Lost in the Think of It” is the first-ever collaboration between the Coronas and another artist, in this case Gabrielle Aplin. The song was first previewed May 11 by Graham “Knoxy” Knox on the band’s Instagram page by playing the album’s vinyl test pressing on his record player. “Lost in the Thick of It” is the second song so previewed, the first being La At Night (as of yet unreleased), and the fourth single of True Love Waits. During the livestream Knoxy revealed that this was his favourite song on the album.

“Lost in the Thick of It” was written in a weekend, Danny revealed:

Gabrielle and her partner, Alfie (Hudson Taylor) invited me to their home in Brighton last year for a weekend of hanging out. We said we might try to write a little but it was more like a mini-holiday in my mind. We wrote a song together on which Gabrielle sang lead vocals that became ‘Lost in The Thick of It’ and I loved the demo so much I suggested adding my vocal in a lower octave and making it a duet.
