Genius Annotation

“Wapakalypse” is the 8th song of With Roots Above and Branches Below, and unlike the Christianity-oriented modern issues, this tune addresses the political issues–and how even the common people are feeding it by not taking action.

Though “Wapakalypse” is a completely random word coined from the band, when broken down, there could be sense derived from it.

“Apocalypse” is a word that possesses two meanings–either the modern description of a destructive event, or the original Greek definition that describes the disclosure of knowledge. This song may be the first type of apocalypse in the aspect that it will shock the audience, and the second type in the aspect that it will deliver enlightenment to the politically ignorant.

The city of Wapakoneta may possibly be referenced as the prefix, seeing that it is quite a short distance from TDWP’s hometown, Dayton. Overall, the prefix is in itself confusing, which may be intentional–therefore making this made-up word an oxymoron.

In conclusion, this oxymoronic word may have been contrived to express humanity’s belief that they “know everything”, when in reality, they only think they do–seeing that they do not try to improve on the things they complain of.
