Nickels Is Money Too Lyrics
Go!
Climbing!
[Verse 1: Jeremy DePoyster]
Climbing into fire, her hands are forceful
We're burying earth in earth
White hands, soft hands: carefully
This makes no sense
[Breakdown: Mike Hranica]
What's that sound I hear?
What's that sound I hear?
What's that sound I hear?
What's that sound?
[Verse 2: Mike Hranica]
I'm lost in a state of confusion
Oh ground
I despise you, but rejoice in your essence, your essence
[Verse 3: Mike Hranica]
Envy will cease my sky
Greed will cease my sky
"Here's a farmer that hung himself on the expectation of plenty"
At this time I feel there is no bottom to Earth, bottom to Earth
[Verse 4: Mike Hranica]
Welcome to the museum of the dead
Welcome to the museum of the dead
Endless gore becomes reality
Endless gore becomes reality
Tradition's dug the grave
The inferno has commenced
Tradition's dug the grave
The inferno has commenced
About
The song title refers to people overlooking nickels in pursuit of something of more value like a quarter or dollar. This goes back to the anti-materialistic views of the band.
Take two white t-shirts – both are free for you to take, but one is from a Walmart 3-pack, while the other is made from Versace. The majority of people would grab the Versace shirt due to it being of more value even though they are both white t-shirts.
This may also be a possible reference to season 1, episode 11 of the TV show Metalocalypse, (a show that also happens to center around a metal band), wherein Pickles says:
In this scene, every band member decided to endorse on something–leading Pickles to endorse on Pickle’s Nickels.
