About

Genius Annotation

The song title refers to people overlooking nickels in pursuit of something of more value like a quarter or dollar. This goes back to the anti-materialistic views of the band.

Take two white t-shirts – both are free for you to take, but one is from a Walmart 3-pack, while the other is made from Versace. The majority of people would grab the Versace shirt due to it being of more value even though they are both white t-shirts.

This may also be a possible reference to season 1, episode 11 of the TV show Metalocalypse, (a show that also happens to center around a metal band), wherein Pickles says:

Our country’s experiencing a horrible problem – nobody is using nickels. Use nickels. Nickels is money too guys.

In this scene, every band member decided to endorse on something–leading Pickles to endorse on Pickle’s Nickels.
