Look Over Your Shoulder Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I used to say I was sincere
Little girl
But when you needed me most
I wasn't there
But if somehow you can forgive me

[Chorus]
Look over your shoulder
There I'll be
(Me waiting patiently
Me waiting patiently)
Whenever you're in need
Look over your shoulder
You'll find me
(Me waiting patiently
Me waiting patiently)

[Verse 2]
I know that you found someone new
And I don't have the right to keep asking you
But if somehow you can forgive me

[Chorus]
Look over your shoulder
There I'll be
(Me waiting patiently
Me waiting patiently)
Whenever you're in need
All you gotta do is look over your shoulder
You'll find me
(Me waiting patiently
Me waiting patiently)
[Verse 3]
I know it's not easy to find someone who cares
Especially a love
That's never been shared

(Outro)
If somehow you can forgive me
If somehow you can forgive me
If somehow you can forgive me
Look over your shoulder
There I'll be
Me waiting patiently
Me waiting patiently
Whenever you're in need
Baby, baby, just look over your shoulder

About

Genius Annotation

Not related to either the Helen Shapiro song or the Busta Rhymes song by the same title, this late 1960s soul song is distinguished by its strongly accented rhythm and the ostinato figure sung by the backing singers to the words “me waiting patiently.” The original version by the Implements was covered in a better-known version by the O'Jays.
