House of Yes Lyrics
[Verse 1: Carson McKee]
There goes the high and here comes the low again
I can't be friends
With the back alley folks, sharing their smokes
It's all some big joke after all
Down by the train
The man with cocaine in his guts
Is just having fun
He cries out to me, I pretend I can't see
And stand with my face to the wall
[Chorus: Carson McKee & Josh Turner]
Stilettos, you wore stilettos
And I wore a face that said I should be drunk for this
"Let's go," you told me "let's go"
"Cut out that ego, don't say no
In the house of yes"
[Verse 2: Carson McKee & Carson McKee & Josh Turner]
The circus machines spin around me on the floor
And now I want more
The Bushwick Elite, a kiss in my cheeks
Their face paint leaves streaks on my nose
You shaved your face
You carved out a place by the door
And they called you a whore
But what do they know, Freud and Rambo
The letters and the books that they chose
There goes the high and here comes the low again
I can't be friends
With the back alley folks, sharing their smokes
It's all some big joke after all
Down by the train
The man with cocaine in his guts
Is just having fun
He cries out to me, I pretend I can't see
And stand with my face to the wall
[Chorus: Carson McKee & Josh Turner]
Stilettos, you wore stilettos
And I wore a face that said I should be drunk for this
"Let's go," you told me "let's go"
"Cut out that ego, don't say no
In the house of yes"

[Bridge: Carson McKee]
There's no southern girl who
Could dance like you do
I stumble around like a flat-footed fool
[Chorus: Carson McKee & Josh Turner]
Stilettos, you wore stilettos
And I wore a face that said I should be drunk for this
"Let's go," you told me "let's go"

Genius Annotation
“House of Yes” is the 8th track on The Other Favorites' first full length LP, Naysayer.
Written about the circus dance and cabaret night club in Brooklyn, The House of Yes was one of the first nightclubs McKee had visited after moving to New York City.
Feeling that the eclecticism of the club would reflect the goodness that was to come of his living in NYC, he decided to write this song.
