About

Genius Annotation

After over a year of this highly anticipated song being previewed, “Mood” was finally released on January 5, 2018 at 8:08 PM EST as a Worldstar Hip Hop Exclusive.

Produced by Supah Mario, in collaboration with TM88 (who produced the multi-platinum hitXO TOUR Llif3) and Southside (both of the music production team 808 Mafia), the song depicts how Lil Uzi Vert feels when someone tries to throw him off course or in short, "mess up his mood”.

The song was released as an 808 Mafia single featuring Lil Uzi Vert. TM88 credited Supah Mario for a majority of the production in a now deleted tweet, but the situation became somewhat controversial when Supah Mario wasn’t credited at all in the title, with his producer tag significantly quieter than TM88’s and Southside’s. Supah Mario later released the original demo for the beat that he made before TM88 & Southside touched it (which was also used for “Stuck” by Stalley) on SoundCloud.

Because the original version of the song, produced by Supah Mario and 808 Mafia, was taking so long to release, Southside brought the song to EDM artist Marshmello for a remix to release instead. However, when the song was finally cleared to release, fans requested that the original be released instead of Marshmello’s remix.

Marshmello’s remix later leaked via the hacking group known as Music Mafia on November 1, 2018.
