Jealousy Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Yesterday was awful, you know what I mean
Yesterday was awkward, you could probably see
I didn't mean to hurt you, or gain your sympathy
It was my jea-e-e-e-e, my jealousy

[Verse 2]
Yesterday I was stupid and I shouldn't have been
'Cause yesterday you loved me and I didn't see
All this time you had, put up with me
My jea-e-e-e-e, my jealousy
My jealousy

[Bridge]
'Cause I never believed from the day that I met you
A loser like me could ever get you
And when we go out I hear people saying, "what's that beautiful girl doing with him"
I'm sorry that I'm sometimes so insecure, but with every day
I grow a little more sure of your love

[Verse 3]
Yesterday my worries got the best of me
Yesterday I'm sorry that I didn't see
I think you'll go you know, oh eventually
Oh my jea-e-e-e-e, my jealousy
Oh my jea-e-e-e-e, my jealousy
[Outro]
Never let me go
Never let me go

About

Genius Annotation

‘Jealousy’ is the eight track of ‘Wrong Crowd’.

Tom told The Sun in an interview that the track Jealousy came about after his girlfriend at the time got friendly with another musician:

I’d never felt like that before! She was hanging around with him a lot and so I wrote the song. I recommend songwriting to so many people, particularly if you are a jealous young man like I was. The song is about not letting it get the better of you. I’m really proud of that track.

And:

As you get through your twenties you start realising there are more responsibilities. I’ve just started really deeply caring about the people in my life. It sounds clichéd. When I was 18 I never could have written a song called ‘Jealousy’ because I was so pent up. I think a lot of these songs are realising those things.
