Just Another Thing We Don’t Talk About Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Rain
Coming home again

Stepping off the train
How you been?
I can't complain
It's been a while
I'm glad you came
Coffee in a flask
Driving much too fast
Have you had a drink?
Wouldn't want to ask
Don't wanna think
About the past

[Chorus]
This could be the time we work things out
Say some things that we should say out loud
But if there's anything that I've learnt by now
It'll be just another thing that we don't talk about
It'll be just another thing that we don't talk about

[Verse 2]
Eyes upon the road
The chili's on the stove
Shall we have a beer?
Should I tell a joke?
And keep this sinking ship afloat
And stumble up to bed
But now I'm seeing red
It's not what you did
It's not what you said
It's the silence we choose instead
[Chorus]
This could be thе time we worked things out
Wе could say some things that we should say out loud
And if there's anything that I've learnt by now
Is it'll be just another thing that we don't talk about
Ah, it'll be just another thing that we don't talk about
Ah, it'll be just another thing that we don't talk about
It'll be just another thing that we don't talk about

What did Tom Odell say about "Just Another Thing We Don't Talk About"?
Genius Answer

I think there’s great tradition in the UK of people-particularly men-not sharing any emotion with each other and hiding stuff away. I’ve begun to learn that the things that you don’t discuss are the ones that become most destructive to any friendship or relationship. read this book by Kazuo Ishiguro called The Buried Giant, which is touching upon similar themes about this collective guilt. I think it’s interesting when we look at the past because it’s how we mature as a society. Terrible things happen, and things that we feel ashamed of happen, and it’s like, ‘How do we continue with that knowledge?’ I don’t think the answer is burying it.
