This comes right after Not On Drugs and describes the pain that comes after a breakup. This section contains the hit song Habits (Stay High).

In a November 2014 interview with Untitled Magazine, Lo commented:

I think, ‘The Pain’ is when something that’s been very passionate and very intense ends. I don’t think there’s any way to end something like that on good terms. It’s hard to just be like, ‘Oh, let’s just be friends and It’s just going to end in a very nice, calm, gathered way.’ I don’t think that’s possible. I think it always ends with explosion and hurt and pain. Just like Passion comes with Pain.
