“Out of the entire album, “Giving Up” came together the quickest for us. We did one pass at lyrics and it just felt right. We were really obsessed with Neil Young’s Live at Massey Hall 1971 and when we wrote it, it was just us playing Wurlitzer and acoustic. The first demo we recorded on a cassette machine was really powerful for us and really informed what we ended up with. We played it for the first time at Millennium Park the exact way we wrote it.”
