Lucid Dreams Lyrics

[Chorus: Corbyn, Jack, Zach & Jonah]
I still see your shadows in my room
Can't take back the love that I gave you
It's to the point where I love and I hate you
And I cannot change you, so I must replace you, oh
Easier said than done, I thought you were the one
Listenin' to my heart instead of my head
You found another one, but I am the better one
I won't let you forget me

I still see your shadows in my room
Can't take back the love that I gave you
It's to the point where I love and I hate you
And I cannot change you, so I must replace you, oh

Easier said than done, I thought you were the one
Listenin' to my heart instead of my head
You found another one, but I am the better one
I won't let you forget me

[Verse: Daniel, Jonah & Corbyn]
You left me falling and landing inside my grave
I know that you want me dead
I take prescriptions to make me feel a-okay
I know it's all in my head
I have these lucid dreams where I can't move a thing
Thinking of you in my bed
You were my everything, thoughts of a wedding ring
Now I'm just better off dead
I'll do it over again, I didn't want it to end
I watch it blow in the wind, I should've listened to my friends
Did it all in the past, but I want it to last
You were made outta plastic, fake
(Fake)
I was tangled up in your drastic ways
Who knew evil girls had the prettiest face?
You gave me a heart that was full of mistakes
I gave you my heart and you made heart break

[Bridge: All, Zach & Daniel]
You made my heart break
You made my heart ache
You made my heart break
You made my heart ache (Ooh, ooh)
You made my heart break
You made my heart ache (Oh-whoa)
You made my heart break again

[Outro: Corbyn]
I still see your shadows in my room
Can't take back the love that I gave you

Genius Annotation

Originally by Juice WRLD, Why Don’t We covered the popular track and added an acoustic touch, releasing the cover through a Spotify Session.

The song describes the feeling of mental anguish that someone experiences after going through a break-up. ‘Lucid dreaming’ is a state of conscious where a person knows that they are dreaming. Juice WRLD embodies the meaning of lucid dreaming in his lyrics, touching on the fact that his heart has broken but now he is motivated to replace the sad thoughts with better ones.

This song also relates to Why Don’t We’s title track of their debut album, “8 Letters”. The track elaborates on the feeling of being hurt, which would take place before the situation described in “8 Letters”. “8 Letters” would signify someone starting over with another person and learning how to love and trust again.

Genius Answer

Going into “Lucid Dreams,” we really wanted to do this song because it’s a dope song. But, the man has the hardest beat you could ever imagine […] and we’re not gonna try to fight on it and make a harder beat, and the lyrics are so good anyways that we just took it a whole different way of just, I think we literally have one same sound going, like one instrument and we stripped it down to just our voices and the lyrics and this one sound and it kinda makes it this chill vibe.
