The song was teased for the first time in Yung Gravy’s Instagram stories on May 12, 2021 during his recording session with Alex and Brian. During one of the podcasts, Gravy also told that “edamame”, a 2021 hit from bbno$ and Rich Brian was also recorded during this session.
There was no information about the song until July 27, 2022, when Gravy played it during his TikTok livestream where he was teasing his upcoming album and confirmed that “C'est La Vie” is going to be a single from it. Gravy posted a new snippet of the song to his TikTok on August 12, and started promoting the single with the initial release date of September, 2.
Due to the personal problems that Gravy has faced, this single and his entire album were pushed back and the new release date for “C'est La Vie” was announced a week before it came out.
