superdeadfriends Lyrics

[Intro]
Super-dead kids with super-dead friends
You're inside my head, you're inside my head
Super-dead kids with super-dead friends
We got something left, we got something left

[Verse 1]
Oh, I want to live in a new dimension
Take a rocketship without no suspension
I want to live in a world where I
Can be who I am without having to try

Mum, Dad, let me breathe
Let me be free to come off my feet

When you're making a baby in missionary
Bе prepared to accept thеm for what they're gonna be

[Pre-Chorus]
It's too late for you to die young
‘Cause they'll never know where you were comin' from

It's too late for you to die young
‘Cause they'll never know where you were comin' from

[Chorus]
Super-dead kids with super-dead friends
You're inside my head, you're inside my head
Super-dead kids with super-dead friends
We got something left, yeah, yeah, each other
Super-dead kids with super-dead friends
You're inside my head, you're inside my head
Super-dead kids with super-dead friends
We got something left (Yeah, yeah), each other
[Verse 2]
Oh, I can't travel back from this planet
They locked me in a room with a man with no manners
We don't care if you're black or you're white
Asian or sexually intertwined

It's time to take a look at the world through our eyes
If you stick around, you might like what you find

Take two from me and you start to divide
It'll give you all the energy, times it by five

[Pre-Chorus]
It's too late for you to die young
‘Cause they'll never know where you were comin' from
It's too late for you to die young
‘Cause they'll never know where you were comin' from
It's too late for you to die young
‘Cause they'll never know where you were comin' from
It's too late for you to die young
‘Cause they'll never know where you were comin' from

[Chorus]
Super-dead kids with super-dead friends
You're inside my head, you're inside my head
Super-dead kids with super-dead friends
We got something left, yeah, yeah, each other
Super-dead kids with super-dead friends
You're inside my head, you're inside my head
Super-dead kids with super-dead friends
We got something left (Yeah, yeah), each other
[Outro]
Super-dead kids with super-dead friends
You're inside my head, you're inside my head
Super-dead kids with super-dead friends
We got something left, we got something left

Genius Annotation

According to YUNGBLUD, during a track-by-track guide for NME, “superdeadfriends” is a song he wrote and produced, based on asking himself

What is gonna open my set at Reading [Festival]? What is gonna be the most dangerous song at my show?

On 30 July 2020, YUNGBLUD posted a boomerang video of a page in his journal to his Instagram story, a poem shown on the specific page he shared was titled “Superdeadfriends”, fans tried to work out the lyrics based on the blurry boomerang.

On 17 September, he revealed the album release date on social media and “superdeadfriends” appeared on the track list as the fifth song, the album was then released on 4 December after a pushback due to a delay in making physical copies of the album because of COVID.

What did YUNGBLUD say about "superdeadfriends"?
Genius Answer

I wanted this to feel like the Beastie Boys meets Happy Mondays. But then we put the 808 drums on and my voice to make it modern. The song is about drugs and about losing my peers to drugs. I’m not going to be naïve and tell people not to take drugs. But it’s just a song about doing it safely, because the high ain’t worth losing your life or a friend. It’s a song about wanting to escape. Be free, have fun, let loose—but do it with caution.
