teresa Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Teresa, I'm sorry that they stole your heart
Took out the middle
They blame ya for walking out into the dark
Then cried a little

[Pre-Chorus]
They were always gonna see through ya, they're gonna try to take your heart
They were always gonna confuse ya, I felt it from the start
They're always gonna see through ya, they're gonna try to take your heart
But they can't, no, they can't

[Chorus]
As long as I watch over you
You don't need to run
As long as I watch over you
We don't need to say we're
Dead, dead
We don't need to say we're dead

[Verse 2]
Teresa, I'll follow you down every street
In every mirror
The way life taught us we were make-believe
Keeps us together
[Pre-Chorus]
They were always gonna see through ya, they're gonna try to take your heart
They were always gonna confuse ya, we felt it from the start
They're always gonna see through ya, they're gonna try to take your heart
But they can't (No, they can't)

[Chorus]
As long as I watch over you
We don't need to run
As long as I watch over you
We don't need to say we're
Dead, dead
We don't need to say we're
Dead, dead

[Bridge]
Every breath I would've taken
I give to you
I won't breathe again
Although that I’m asleep

[Chorus]
As long as I watch over you
We don't need to run
As long as I watch over you
We don't need to say we're
Dead, dead (La-la-la)
We don't need to say we're
Dead, dead
[Outro]
No, I don’t wanna be dead
Don't take my head 'cause I am dead

What did YUNGBLUD say about "teresa"?
Genius Answer

I was in the studio and remembered that a girl told me about her boyfriend passing away. They had come to the shows together. I wanted to write a song about this girl and her boyfriend being on the other side, watching over her. But there was also a resemblance between me and my fanbase—that no matter what happens to us, we’re always looking out for each other. I wanted this song to start soft and then be like, ‘Bang, the album’s off.’ It has four tempo changes; the middle eight is like The Beatles and then it sounds like Queen at the end. I produced the album with Chris Greatti, who is so unashamedly pretentious. I was like, ‘I’m going to match your pretentiousness.’ The end of this song was just us trying to top each other.
