FFF Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Unusual, we got mutual friends
Is it mutual if I kiss your lips?
If I'm truthful, then it all depends on your feelings
Crucial, how I'm leanin' in
'Cause I'm used to just divin' in
I could lose you, that's the consequence of my feelings

[Pre-Chorus]
Is there a spark for us
Or is it just purely platonic?
Is this a story arc?
'Cause if it are, it'd be iconic
I wasn't gonna ask
Afraid of asking you to dance
(But here I am)

[Chorus]
Falling for a friend
Falling for a friend, ooh

Baby, don't pretend
That you don't feel it too
I know you do

[Verse 2]
I wonder if we cross the line
Go under covers, close the blind
Will we be lovers or cut the ties forever?
[Pre-Chorus]
Is there a spark for us
Or is it just purely platonic?
Is this a story arc?
'Cause if it are, it'd be iconic
I wasn't gonna ask
Afraid of asking you to dance
(But here I am)

[Chorus]
Falling for a friend
Falling for a friend, ooh

Baby, don't pretend
That you don't feel it too
I know you do
Oh, baby, here I am
I'm falling for a friend, ooh
Come on, don't pretend (Don't pretend that)
That you don't feel it too
I know you do

[Bridge]
Is there a spark for us
Or is it just purely platonic?
Is this a story arc?
'Cause if it are, it'd be iconic
I've been pacin' around
Waiting it out for just one chance
(So here I am)
[Chorus]
Falling for a friend
Falling for a friend, ooh

Baby, don't pretend
That you don't feel it too
I know you do
Oh, baby, here I am
I'm falling for a friend, ooh
Come on, don't pretend (Don't pretend that)
That you don't feel it too
I know you do

Genius Annotation

“FFF” narrates the experience of falling for someone who was supposed to only be a friend, and thinking it’s likely that the person reciprocates your feelings, but not being sure, and being worried to act on your attraction. Luckily, in Zara Larsson’s case, the boy who she wrote this song and “Love Me Land” about later became her boyfriend.

Genius Answer

‘FFF’ stands for falling for a friend. I wrote it the same week that we did “Love Me Land” when I’d become fully obsessed with a boy who’d been my friend for a really long time. When you fall for a friend, you have so much to lose, so I wanted to write about that experience.
