50 Cent Calls Rick Ross A “One-Trick Pony” Without Value To “Music Culture At This Moment”

Ross recently said he would have worked with 50 if the rapper “still had value.”

Rick Ross and 50 Cent’s decade-long beef continues to play out in 2019, with the two rappers recently exchanging words about their respective places in the music industry. During a recent interview with Big Boy, Ross stated that he would have considered working with his rival “if 50 Cent still had value… But not being funny, homie just ain’t that dude no more.” 50 shot back in a new interview with Complex, questioning Ross' own status and value.

“I don’t know what his value is to music culture at this moment,” he said. “I never made music with him. I don’t have interest in making music with him.”

50 further disparaged Ross, saying he was reliant on high-profile collaborators to remain relevant. “A lot of these guys, even when you make reference to music culture and stuff like that, they’re one-trick ponies, so they’re going to be gone,” he said. “In hip-hop, they say it’s not what have you done, what have you done for me lately, right? So you could get next to the guys that got momentum and try and survive based on that. But, it’s not a lot going on there.”

Rick Ross is gearing up for the release of his new album, Port of Miami 2, next week. He just dropped another high-profile collaboration with Drake, titled “Gold Roses,” and revealed plans to put longtime rivals Pusha T and Lil Wayne on a record together.

50 and Ross' beef first kicked off in 2009 following an alleged run-in at the BET Awards. Ross had words for 50 on the song “Mafia Music” that same year, prompting 50 respond with “Officer Ricky (Go Head Try Me).” They would continue to fight on-and-off for several years, resulting in more diss tracks, a backstage assault of MMG rapper Gunplay at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards, and 50 Cent’s release of a sex tape featuring the mother of one of Ross' children.

All theses years later, it seems the two rivals still have bad blood.
