Nicki recently defended her decision to work with the controversial rapper again.

6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj scored a multi-Platinum hit with “FEFE” in 2018, and today they’re back together for “TROLLZ.” The song celebrates the Brooklyn rapper’s self-appointed role as hip-hop’s resident provocateur, and represents his third Nicki collaboration following “FEFE” and “MAMA.”

They’re donating part of the proceeds from the song and related merch to The Bail Project Inc., after delaying the single’s release in response to the ongoing protests against police brutality.

On the track, 6ix9ine takes a shot at his haters in the rap industry:

I know you don’t like me, you wanna fight me
You don’t want no problems at your party? Don’t invite me
I don’t worry ‘bout you n-ggas, please stop talking 'bout me
Always talkin’ bout me ‘cause you looking for the clouty

Nicki faced intense backlash online this week after becoming the first major rapper to collaborate with 6ix9ine following his release from prison. Many have questioned whether he can remain relevant in hip-hop after cooperating with the government and testifying in the gang trial of several of his former associates in the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. He did come back big, however, with “GOOBA” debuting at No. 3 on the Hot 100 and remaining in the Top 40.

Nicki has been an open supporter of 6ix9ine for years, and worked with him even after it became public knowledge that he pled guilty to one count of use of a minor in a sexual performance in a case that was eventually dropped.

“I wanted him to perform with me at the VMAs, and somewhere along the line he didn’t get approved to perform by the powers that be,” said Minaj, in an August 2018 episode of Queen Radio. “I don’t want anyone to think for a second that I wouldn’t invite him to perform his hit record. I want everyone to know my character. I really fought. It is what it is. When I know somebody there’s nothing you can tell me about [them]. That’s just how it is.”
