6LACK & J. Cole’s Emotional Ballad “Pretty Little Fears” Marks Their First Collaboration

The song recently received a boost from its music video.

A highlight from 6LACK’s sophomore studio album East Atlanta Love Letter is “Pretty Little Fears.” Produced by T-Minus and Yakob, the emotional ballad is his first collaboration with J. Cole and features both artists rapping to women they love.

On the song, 6LACK name-drops Master P while also alluding to Lil' Kim and 50 Cent’s 2003 track “Magic Stick” and SZA’s Grammy-nominated single “Love Galore.” Meanwhile, J. Cole’s verse focuses on relationship struggles and infidelity. It also contains a reference to the groundbreaking 1999 film The Matrix.

Since the release of the “Pretty Little Fears” music video, the song is experiencing a surge in popularity with over 1.5 million YouTube views in two days. The track is rising up Genius' Top Songs chart, too, recently landing in the Top 10.
