Coi Leray Earns A Breakout Top 40 Hit With The Lil Durk-Assisted “No More Parties”

The song exposed a rift with her famous father, Benzino.

After first getting on many fans' radars with 2018’s “Huddy,” Boston-born rapper Coi Leray is experiencing breakout success with her January single, “No More Parties.” The song is climbing up the Hot 100 chart—reaching the Top 40 this week—and recently nabbed an official Lil Durk remix. At the same time, she’s been engaged in a war of words with her famous father, former The Source publisher and Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta star Benzino, stemming from the song’s lyrics.

“No More Parties” is produced by Okaykhan and Maaly Raw, the latter of whom is known for his extensive work with Lil Uzi Vert. Propelled in part by a TikTok dance challenge, the melodic rap track first entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 84 in mid-February. It jumped to No. 32 this week thanks to the release of its Lil Durk-assisted remix, becoming the week’s biggest streaming gainer and showcasing the Chicago rapper’s continued success as a hip-hop stimulus package.

Leray addresses her famous dad on the song’s first verse, rapping about him not being there for her:

I’m too busy getting this money, counting this cheddar
My daddy let me down, but I promise you, I won’t let up
I wanna say f-ck that man but the shit won’t make me better
Me and my brother still beefin' right now, ‘cause he ain’t get that letter

She goes on to distance herself from the negativity, singing:

I’m off to better things
I’m only doing sh-t that’s gonna make me elevate
Only want people around that’s gonna make me better

“I didn’t want my father’s relationships or anything that he had going on to affect me,” she told Angela Yee in a recent appearance on the Lip Service podcast, noting that Benzino’s negative relationship with many industry figures had been an issue for her in the past.

The comments sparked a nasty back and forth with Benzino, who said Leray should stop “tarnishing his name” in a since-deleted comment on the podcast’s Instagram page. Leray then fired back on Instagram Live, saying she was “embarrassed” to be his daughter and leveling a series of claims about his lack of support throughout her life that’s prompted further responses from him.

It’s been an ugly aside for the Republic Records rapper, who is otherwise looking at the greatest commercial and chart success of her career so far. The Lil Durk remix of “No More Parties” earned over 15,000 pageviews on Genius on its first day of release and both versions now combine for nearly 70,000 total pageviews. With its streaming gains just starting to pick up speed, “No More Parties” looks poised to reach even greater heights in the coming weeks. Whether it’s because of the TikToks, the drama, or simply the song’s catchy melodies, fans are clearly paying attention.
