Clever, Juice WRLD, & Post Malone Link Up For “Life’s A Mess II”

It gives a look at the song in its original form before Halsey was added.

Juice WRLD and Halsey’s 2020 song, “Life’s A Mess,” was a major hit last year, peaking at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Now, fans can get a closer look at the song in its original form with the release of “Life’s A Mess II.” The song features Alabama rapper Clever as well as Post Malone, and serves as a single from the former artist’s upcoming album.

“I was on that record before Halsey, and the beat got changed,” Clever wrote on Instagram. “This version I have is the version Juice wanted as far as the beat goes. it has more of an acoustic vibe, but with a verse from me on it.” Although he didn’t appear on the original “Life’s A Mess,” Clever previously worked with Juice on 2019’s “Ring Ring.”

“Life’s A Mess II” shares many similarities with the original, although features an altered beat by producers Charlie Handsome and Rex Kudo. Clever adds a new verse to the track, singing about the trials and tribulations of love:

Have you ever fallen head over heels for somebody
That made promises to give you the world?
There’s one that won’t never leave you cold
Or place nothing above you
That will love a heart that hurts
Don’t hurt the heart that loves you

Post rounds out the track by reminiscing on a former flame:

And I swear I would never leave you cold
There ain’t no one above you
You were way too high to touch
I was high enough to pass out
When you was so alone, I was a stone’s throw away
I remember those lips, I remember how they taste

Clever is signed to Post Malone’s Posty Co., and is set to drop his new album, Crazy, next Friday, March 12.
