South Korea’s growing international idol group BTS kicked off its Love Yourself project last summer with the mini album Love Yourself: 承 ‘Her’. One year later, BTS concludes the series with its repackaged album Love Yourself: 結 ‘Answer’. Prior to the release, the group dropped a comeback trailer for its song “Epiphany.” With the intention of establishing the new album’s mood and tone, the video closes with the following mysterious narration:
At the end of the journey to find myself, I was once again in the same place. At the end, what I have to find is the map to the soul, which is the start and milestone of everything. The thing that everyone can have but not everyone is able to find, I’m set out to look for it from now on.
The 26-track repackaging spreads a mix of songs old and new across two discs. In addition to the group’s three RIAA certified Gold singles—“DNA,” “MIC Drop,” and “FAKE LOVE”—Love Yourself: 結 ‘Answer’ introduces seven new tracks. The lead single “IDOL” is heavily influenced by traditional Korean culture and marks a return to BTS' roots by focusing on self-love.
Although Love Yourself: 結 ‘Answer’ is the final chapter in the Love Yourself discography, it isn’t the end of the era. One day after the album’s release on August 24, BTS will kick off its 2018 Love Yourself World Tour at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul. With New York’s Citi Field Stadium selling out in mere minutes, the anticipation for the group’s international performances is rapidly growing.
