Demi Lovato puts her own story front and center on her new album, Dancing With the Devil… The Art of Starting Over, but she leaves room for a high-profile collaboration. Lovato enlists Ariana Grande for the Mitch Allan, Xavi, and TBHits-produced “Met Him Last Night,” with the two pop stars crooning about a fateful encounter that turns into something more.
The women duet on the chorus:
I’ve seen the devil, yeah, I met him last night
One conversation, now he’s spendin' the night
I think I Iove him, though I know it ain’t right
Lovato told Apple Music that Grande wrote the song with her in mind.
“She started writing this song and immediately thought of me, so when she gave it to me I was like, ‘We should just sing this together,‘” she said. “I remember playing ‘Dancing With the Devil’ for Ariana back in 2019 when I was at her concert in London. We were backstage and she was so excited. She’s always been super supportive of me and my career, and it’s so awesome to have a friend like her in the industry.”
Although both artists are managed by Scooter Braun, it’s the first time they’ve worked together.
