Ariana Grande Moves Forward With Her New Single “No Tears Left To Cry”

She’s gearing up for her fourth album.

A lot has happened in Ariana Grande’s since the release of her third album Dangerous Woman in 2016. Most prominently, she was thrust into the headlines after a suicide bomber killed 22 fans and wounded over 500 at her concert in Manchester, England last May. After time for mourning and helping raise money for the victims, she’s finally ready to start the next chapter of her career today with her new single “No Tears Left to Cry.”

She teased the track with a series of tweets using upside down text, which also appears on the song’s single art. This concept makes its way into the song’s music video, too, where Grande and director Dave Meyers play with gravity using visuals that seem to draw inspiration from the films Dr. Strange and Inception:

The song is produced by Savan Kotecha, Ilya Salmanzadeh, and Max Martin. It doesn’t directly reference the Manchester attack, although Grande sings about moving on from heartbreak and tragedy over the upbeat dance production:

Right now I’m in a state of mind
I wanna be in like all the time
Ain’t got no tears left to cry
So I’m pickin' it up, I’m pickin' up (oh yeah)
I’m lovin', I’m livin', I’m pickin' it up

“No Tears Left to Cry” is presumably the first taste of Grande’s upcoming fourth album, although she hasn’t revealed any details just yet.
