Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings” Becomes Her Second Billboard Hot 100 Chart-Topper In Two Months

Her new album is due out in just a few weeks.

Ariana Grande is back at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart today with “7 rings,” the latest single from her upcoming album thank u, next. Billboard reports that the song earned 85.3 million streams in the week since its release on January 18, becoming the second-biggest streaming week ever for a female artist behind Grande’s own “thank u, next” in November. That song also debuted at No. 1, making Grande the first artist in history whose first two No. 1 songs debuted at the top of the chart.

“7 rings” dethrones Halsey’s “Without Me,” which spent its second non-consecutive week at No. 1 in the previous frame. It’s only the second No. 1 song of Grande’s career, despite four albums of successful pop hits. She previously reached a peak of No. 2 with “Problem” in 2014.

The track arrived amidst some controversy, as fans noted similarities between Grande’s track and multiple rap songs. These include Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em’s “Pretty Boy Swag,” Princess Nokia’s “Mine,” and 2 Chainz’s “Spend It.” Grande has yet to comment on the comparisons.
