Beast Coast Unleashes Its Second Single “Coast/Clear”

The Pro Era, Underachievers, & Flatbush Zombies supergroup is gearing up for its debut album.

Brooklyn super-collective Beast Coast just unleashed its second single, “Coast/Clear,” off their upcoming album.

The collaborative project is the work of three core collectives: Pro Era, Flatbush Zombies, and The Underachievers. While Beast Coast has existed informally for the better part of a decade, the crew only released its first official single, “Left Hand,” last month.

Seven MC from the three crews–Kirk Knight, Joey Bada$$, Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice, Erick Arc Elliott, Issa Gold, and Nyck Caution–trade bars on this track about standing strong in the face of hostility.

Knight takes the reins on the chorus, where self-defense goes hand-in-hand with braggadocio:

Gotta watch my back, make sure the coast clear, yeah
If you thuggin' from the struggle, put a toast in the air
Pop out, watch ‘em all stare
You a cop-out, you should grow a pair

Bada$$ takes this sentiment a step further as his verse welcomes opposition:

Gang with me in this bitch ain’t no fearin', woah (No fear)
Push me to the edge and bitch I won’t spend none
Get shot down (Shot), beat ya block down (Blaow)
Said I’m ridin' round the city with my top down

“Coast/Clear” features production by Powers Pleasant. Beast Coast’s debut album is slated to drop later this year. The collective will kick off their tour on April 13 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.
