Behind The Rise Of Megan Thee Stallion

The Houston MC has been writing rhymes since she was a child.

Megan Thee Stallion is earning strong buzz thanks to her breakout track, “Big Ole Freak,” and viral freestyles. As a young child, the Houston MC began writing rhymes while going to the studio with her mother, a rapper named Holly Wood. Megan’s freaky and frank lyrics are reminiscent of pioneers like Lil' Kim and Trina while also bringing Nicki Minaj to mind. She has also called UGK rapper Pimp C her favorite rapper, while naming Three 6 Mafia and The Notorious B.I.G. as influences.

After releasing her Rich Ratchet and Make It Hot mixtapes, Megan signed with Houston indie label 1501 and dropped her third project, 2018’s Tina Snow. By November 2018, Megan was recruited by 300 Entertainment, where she became to labelmates with Gunna and Tee Grizzley.
