Don Toliver Recorded The Chorus For Eminem’s “No Regrets” Just Days Before Its Release

Producer D.A. Doman “hustled at the 11th hour” to get the Houston rapper on the song.

Eminem’s surprise album, Music to be Murdered By, includes an appearance by Cactus Jack signee Don Toliver, who guests on “No Regrets.” In a recent Rolling Stone feature, the song’s producer D.A. Doman revealed that Toliver recorded the chorus just days before its release.

After writing the hook for “No Regrets” in November, Doman sent the reference track to three demo singers. Songwriter Jim Lavigne eventually nailed the hook and suggested Toliver should record it.

“I sent it to two other demo singers I usually work with, but it didn’t quite work out—it didn’t quite get the emotion that I was singing it with, even though I can’t sing well,” the producer explained. “I hustled at the 11th hour to get Don on it; he hopped on five days ago.”

Doman’s other placements on the album didn’t come together last minute. In fact, the multi-Platinum producer doesn’t even remember when he made the Juice WRLD-assisted “Godzilla” or “Those Kinda Nights” featuring Ed Sheeran, estimating the beats are from “late 2018, early 2019.” According to Rolling Stone, he only discovered that he was about to be on the project when Em’s team asked for paperwork.

“No Regrets” is just the latest high-profile appearance for Don Toliver, who came away as the breakout star from Travis Scott’s label compilation, JACKBOYS. With Music to be Murdered By projected to debut at No. 1 next week, the track is poised to join his solo single, “No Idea,” on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
