Daniel Caesar Joins Forces With John Mayer On “SUPERPOSITION”

The R&B singer uses a physics principle to explore life’s mysteries.

Daniel Caesar’s new album, CASE STUDY 01, has arrived, and amongst its high-profile features is John Mayer. The singer and guitarist contributes instrumentals and production work to the project’s seventh track, “SUPERPOSITION.” It’s Caesar’s first time working with Mayer, although he previously appeared on the singer-songwriter’s Instagram Live show Current Mood, where he infamous confronted Dave Chappelle for calling him “very gay.”

The track’s title references the scientific superposition principle in physics, which states that the total (or net) response to multiple stimuli is the sum of the responses they would have caused individually.

Caesar explores this concept on the song’s chorus, singing:

Exist in superposition
Life’s all about contradiction
Yin and yang
Fluidity and things
I’m me, I’m God
I’m everything

Scientific theories are a them of CASE STUDY 01, where Caesar uses them to explore the complexities of human emotions and relationships.

CASE STUDY 01 dropped with just a few hours of warning, representing the budding R&B star’s first album since his 2017 breakout, Freudian. The album also features April 2019 Album Release Calendar, Pharrell Williams, Jacob Collier, and Sean Leon.
