It’s the opening track on the duo’s first collaborative LP, ‘Her Loss.’

Today, Drake and 21 Savage, two of hip-hop’s resident A-listers, joined forces and dropped a collaborative album, Her Loss. The pair have worked together multiple times in the past—most recently on Drizzy’s Honestly, Nevermind cut “Jimmy Cooks”—but this is the first time the rappers have teamed up for an entire album. Immediately upon release, songs from the 16-track LP soared into the Top 10 on the Genius Top Songs chart, and leading the charge, was the project’s opening cut, “Rich Flex.”

With a four-person team on production (Vinylz, Tay Keith, FNZ, and BoogzDaBeast), “Rich Flex” features a beat switch and two interpolations, one in each half of the nearly four-minute track. Lyrically, 21 and Drake do exactly as the title implies—brag about their wealth and success. But the song opens with a few words from Atlanta MC Young Nudy, who paints a vivid picture of an average night in their lavish lifestyles.

Go buy a zip of weed, hit the club
Pay for ‘bout ten niggas to get in, we crunk, lit, in this bitch, yeah

Drake steps in for the first hook, where he hypes up his friend 21 to step on the beat.

21, can you do somethin’ for me? (21)
Can you hit a lil’ rich flex for me? (21)
And 21, can you do somethin’ for me? (21, 21)
Drop some bars to my pussy ex for me

The motivational words work, and 21 comes in hot on the first verse. He starts by bragging about the ice on his wrist and revealing how he keeps his relationships on the DL.

Yellow diamonds in the watch, this shit cost a lot
Never send a bitch your dot, that’s how you get shot
I DM in vanish mode, I do that shit a lot
Took her panties off and this bitch thicker than the plot

Later, 21 declares himself worthy of his stage name—in the bedroom and on the streets—by interpolating the hook from Megan Thee Stallion’s 2020 No. 1 smash “Savage.”

I’m a savage (21)
Smack her booty in Magic
I’ll slap a pussy nigga with a ratchet

The instrumental slows down as Drake segues into the second part of the song. He sings us an interlude, where he addresses all the women who want a piece of Drizzy.

I got dick for you if I’m not workin’, girl
If I’m busy then fuck no
You need to find you someone else to call
When your bank account get low, you need to find you someone

Next up, the beat switches, ramping up into a bass-heavy instrumental. Drake handles this half of the track, and he starts it off by interpolating T.I.’s 2003 song “24’s” off his trailblazing album Trap Muzik and shouting out Soulja Boy’s 2009 Top 10 hit “Kiss Me Thru The Phone.”

Stick and stones, chrome on chrome
That’s just what a nigga on
Internet clones, got ’em kissin’ through the phone

Later, he gets creative with acronyms to boast about his success and worry-free attitude. He’s got women waiting on him like fans of OVO artist PARTYNEXTDOOR (PND), who hasn’t put out an album since 2020’s PARTYMOBILE. He keeps it real and relaxed, while his opps struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and he shows PDA to whomever he wants, wherever he wants, without worrying about tabloids like TMZ.

The bad bitches waitin’ on a nigga like I’m PND
I’m steady pushin’ P, you niggas pushing PTSD
I told her ass to kiss me in the club, fuck a TMZ

Drake closes out his verse by reminding the hip-hop game not to sleep on him. In the end, you’ll always look foolish.

Niggas see Drake and they underestimate
Take it from a vet’, that’s a rookie ass mistake, ayy
