Drake Tells Joe Budden To Play “The Story Of Adidon” & “Making A Murderer” At His Pool Party

“I wanna see if they ring off.”

Drake unexpectedly appeared on Joe Budden Instagram Live today to troll the former Slaughterhouse rapper as well as his perennial rival Pusha-T. While Budden live-streamed his pool party, Drake hopped on to make jokes about the event. He later said to play the diss songs that Joe Budden released in 2016 during a short-lived feud, as well as Pusha-T’s 2018 Drake diss, “The Story of Adidon,” to see if they “ring off.”

Drake also name-checked Genius' own Rob Markman, claiming that our lyrics aficionado would be the only person to know the words to “Adidon” if it was played:

Joe released four Drake diss tracks in 2016: “Making A Murderer,” “Wake,” “Afraid,” and “Just Because.” Drake never officially responded to the songs, although he did mention Budden’s hit single, “Pump It Up,” in a sub on “No Shopping.”

Pusha’s “The Story of Adidon” exposed the existence of Drake’s child, Adonis, to the world, and took sharp jabs at Drake’s parents and close collaborator 40, the latter of whom has the autoimmune disease multiple sclerosis. The song forced Drake to rewrite portions of his 2018 album, Scorpion, in response. The beef didn’t have much of an impact on the OVO rapper’s career sales-wise, but seemed to get under his skin. He explained as much in a 2018 appearance on LeBron James The Shop:

I knew something was going to come up about my kid. They had to add the ‘Deadbeat’ thing to make it more appealing, which is fine I understand that. The ‘Mom and Dad’ thing, whatever, you don’t even know my family. But I'ma tell you, wishing death on my friend that has MS. I study rap battles for a living, now when you mention defenseless people who are sick in the hospital, that passed away, that really sent me to a place where I just believed then and believe now that there’s a price to pay for that.
