Dreamville Throws It Back With Their Vintage “Down Bad” Video

The song features JID, Bas, J. Cole, Earthgang, & Young Nudy.

Dreamville continues to promote its June 2019 album, Revenge of the Dreamers III, with a new music video for “Down Bad.” The throwback track, which is reminiscent of Public Enemy’s “Rebel Without A Pause” but doesn’t directly sample it, is accompanied by an old-school music video.

In the clip, JID, J. Cole, Bas, EARTHGANG, and Young Nudy kick it in East Atlanta, filmed through VHS-style cameras that give the video a classic feel.

On the track, JID raps about his rags to riches tale:

I was just fucked up, I was just down, down bad
I had to tighten the fuck up, but I’m here for the crown, crown (Oh, shit)

Meanwhile, Cole asserts his status in the industry:

All hail King Cole, first of his name, long may he reign
The boy got the throne, but you know it ain’t a game
Ville nigga, I was born in the same
Pressure cooker that’s been known to bust a lump of coal and make a diamond
Two six, we enrolled in Reaganomics
Crew sick, we the Golden State of rhyming, on God

“Down Bad” is produced by Pluss, and was released as one of the first pair of singles from Revenge of the Dreamers III. It peaked at No. 64 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
