Cozz raps about Dreamville competing with TDE on “LamboTruck.”

Earlier today, J. Cole announced that Dreamville’s much-anticipated Revenge of the Dreamers III compilation is arriving this Friday, July 5. Now, the label has shared two new singles from the upcoming project: “LamboTruck” and “Costa Rica.”

“LamboTruck” is produced by Kal Banx and features Dreamville’s Cozz, TDE’s REASON, and Childish Major.

The latter artist handles the chorus, while Cozz raps about Dreamville competing with TDE:

I got a reason to commit treason
But I'ma hit REASON and see what he think
About how he been treated at TDE
‘Cause I done been scheming
Schoolboy just dropped, give me the cue
I’m desperate enough to go do what it do
SZA done popped and y'all got Dot
I heard Jay Rock has been moving them units
Soul and Isaiah Rashad, boy, you niggas really at the top

In November 2018, JID said Dreamville needed to “step it up” to compete with TDE. “We competing with TDE. That’s what needs to be known,” he said. “Dreamville, we gotta step this shit the fuck up, because them niggas is fire… I don’t even know any other indies that I give a fuck about, but I fuck with TDE and I feel like we gotta step our shit up.”

Cole expressed similar sentiments earlier this year in a XXL interview. “One hundred percent,” he said when asked if TDE’s success motivated him. “They murder the game, honestly. They really set a high bar for a label’s success. We look up to what they did, what Top [Dawg] did. Hell yeah.”

Cozz also expresses his desire to achieve more through Dreamville:

I talked to Bas, we fiending for more
A nigga done tried speaking to Cole
He be too busy but he be the bro
Shit, fuck it, I know how it go
So if I can’t get a response from my label
And get some more food on my table
We can turn this thing into a fable
And take what I can if I’m able

In March, fellow Dreamville act EARTHGANG expressed their belief that they’re not a priority for the label. “I got no problem being open and honest with my supporters, it’s 2019. We not a priority to the label and the album won’t come out ‘til we are,” Doctor wrote on Instagram. “Let’s pray we change things soon ‘cuz we made a lot of great music and I want y'all to hear it so bad.”

“Costa Rica” is produced by Pyrex and CuBeatz. It features a star-studded lineup of JID, Bas, Guapdad 4000, Reese LAFLARE, Jace, Smokepurpp, Buddy, and Ski Mask the Slump God.

Guapdad handles the chorus:

Baby, had to bustdown on the AP, yeah
Baby, and I’m rich styles on you lately, yeah
I got fans in Costa Rica, I got bands in Costa Rica

Meanwhile, JID compares himself to a Star Wars Jedi, while also dropping references to NBA Hall of Famer Dominque Wilkins and Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee:

Top of the morning to anybody who thought it was beddy-bye
Jiddy, I’m like a Jedi
Mind tricks live inside of your head, I
Devilish, red eyes, never been on a redeye
Or shit, I be high, I forget
Shawty said I be wildin' and trippin' when I’m on a lick
Score a penny or twenty, I’m Dominique Wilkins and shit
Really I flew to Costa Rica with an AP
At the airport, this girl ask me, “Hey, are you Swae Lee?”

Ski Mask continues with another Star Wars reference and some clever wordplay about Usher’s classic hit, “Burn”:

I got too much skills
I flow like the water, so surprised I did not grow gills
And I am your father like you was Luke Skywalker
And I conquer and let it burn like Usher’s perm and kill confirmed

The first two singles from Revenge of the Dreamers III, “Got Me” and “Down Bad,” were released last month. The former track features Ari Lennox, Dreezy, Omen, and Ty Dolla $ign, while the latter song includes appearances from J. Cole, JID, Bas, EARTHGANG, and Young Nudy.
