The Detroit rapper previously feuded with Cannon’s ex-wife Mariah Carey.

Fat Joe just unleashed his latest album, Family Ties—and he recruited both Eminem and Mary J. Blige on the Dre-produced “Lord Above.”

On Em’s verse, he references his feud with Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. Genius contributor SmashBeezy breaks it down in an annotation:

Cannon responded to the diss on his Power 107 morning show, mocking Em’s age and flow:

“We should change his name from Eminem to, like, Perocet. What’s the pill that old people take? We gon' call him Cialis,” Cannon said. “Bring your walker, get out your wheelchair Eminem, and pop whatever you wanna pop. Should I respond back to this? It’s not worthy of a response.”

This is the Bronx native’s first team-up with the Detroit hitmaker since 2005’s “Lean Back (Remix).” Back in 2012, Blige featured on “Another Round (Remix).”

As Genius user @TrappaChiNo points out, Joe spoke about Em’s feature in an interview on Sway in the Morning. “Imma give you one line Eminem says in the song,” he said. “It’s the most disrespectful song. Yo, Eminem has not rhymed like this in years. I thought of one right now. He said he’s a ‘unicorn in the human form!’”

“The illest line to me that he said that just keeps smacking me in my head was, ‘I’m just a cracker with a barrel/Armed to the teeth/Anderson .Paak, rest in peace Afeni Shakur and her son Pac,’” he continued. “Ain’t it nice? That’s crazy! Yo, this boy going too crazy!”

He appeared on Billboard’s On the Block series, where he spoke about how he rates the new album. “This album, I’m calling it a Hamilton, to where 10 years from now we could probably make a play of it. Very Chronic-ish. I’m really proud of this album,” he said. “If this is the last thing you guys ever hear from me, I’m leaving on a high note for real.”

Family Ties is his first collaborative album since 2017’s Plata O Plomo with Remy Ma.
