Finneas Explains Why Billie Eilish Doesn’t Want To Drop Her Next Album During The Pandemic

“[It] won’t be a bummer COVID record.”

After a blockbuster 2019, Billie Eilish and FINNEAS have laid relatively low in 2020, although they did get together for the Bond theme song “No Time to Die” as well as Billie’s single, “my future.” According to FINNEAS, they are hard at work on a pair of new albums—one for her and one for him—but fans shouldn’t expect it to be released very soon. He told Australia’s Herald Sun that both siblings are trying hard to avoid releasing their projects during the pandemic.

“Billie’s album, and my album, they won’t be a bummer COVID record,” he said. “I have a desperate desire not to release them during COVID-19. It’s the vaccine record! I want it to be the album everyone’s out dancing in the streets to.”

While it might be a while before fans get new material, it doesn’t mean the siblings aren’t recording.

“Billie and I are full steam ahead on her next record, I’m working on my own album too,” he said. “I haven’t suffered at all because of my set-up. Billie and I can work one-on-one, and I’m working remotely with other artists who FaceTime me and ask if I want to work on a song.”

In addition to Billie’s tracks, FINNEAS dropped his own single, “What They’ll Say About Us,” earlier this month. The track was inspired by both Black Lives Matter protests and the struggles of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic:

Although this year didn’t go exactly how anyone planned, the two siblings still had a huge moment when they swept the four major categories at the 2020 Grammy Awards. In total, Eilish came away with five Grammys.
