As some fans may note, Ocean first previewed this track on his Instagram story in November 2018:

This latest preview follows Ocean playing a club remix of his cover of SZA’s “The Weekend” at last week’s party, as well as snippets of two unreleased songs at the debut event. On top of that, Ocean dropped his new song, “DHL,” on October 19 following his first PrEP+ party. That song marks his first release of original solo material since 2017.

It’s still not clear exactly what Ocean has planned, but anticipation is growing for his next release as he continues to tease new music. Last month, he spoke with W Magazine about the sounds that are inspiring him.

“I’ve been interested in club, and the many different iterations of nightlife for music and songs,” he said. “And so the things I look at now have a lot to do with those scenes: Detroit, Chicago, techno, house, French electronic… I grew up in New Orleans, so the closest to the nightlife scene for me was New Orleans bounce, and that was a lot of trends.”
