Kanye West’s new song, “Jesus Lord,” features co-production from Swizz Beatz, but that’s not the only contribution Swizz made to the song. The chorus is underscored with a repeated, high-pitched vocal singing the words “Jesus, lord,” which appear to be sampled from a 2021 Instagram Live broadcast where Swizz Beats and Timbaland recapped the Dipset and The LOX Verzuz battle.
In the Instagram Live, Swizz is seen in a yellow hoodie on a boat while uttering the phrase:
Kanye sprinkles the sample throughout the song’s chorus between his own raps:

“Jesus Lord” features Jay Electronica and also includes production from MIKE DEAN, Gesaffelstein, and Kanye himself. The track finds Kanye delivering a lengthy rap verse about his mother’s death, his mental health, and more:

And while I introduce the party, you say it’s up there

DONDA ends with “Jesus Lord Pt. 2,” which The LOX. The New York trio recorded their vocals shortly after their Verzuz appearance, and it appears both songs were inspired by the battle.
