Kehlani Is Replacing Tory Lanez’s “Can I” Verse On Her Upcoming Deluxe Album

The decision comes after Lanez was arrested following an incident with Megan Thee Stallion.

Kehlani recently announced that she’s replacing Tory Lanez’s verse on the upcoming deluxe edition of her sophomore album, It Was Good Until It Wasn’t. He also won’t appear in the music video for “Can I”—set to drop today—the R&B star revealed on Twitter:

Lanez’s verse will remain on the version of “Can I” that appears on the standard edition of It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, which dropped back in May. The song peaked at No. 50 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Kehlani has yet to reveal who will replace Lanez on the new version of the song.

She later posted a longer note about her decision:

The move comes after Lanez was arrested on a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon in mid-July during an incident where Megan was shot in both feet. The exact circumstances of the event remain unclear; although gossip outlets like Page Six have claimed that Lanez shot her following a dispute, he has not been directly charged with the shooting. However, Megan has made it clear that she was “hurt and traumatized” by the situation, and LAPD officials told Page Six that the investigation is “ongoing.”

In a recent Instagram post, Megan clarified some circumstances behind the incident, saying the shooting was done “with the intention to physically harm me”:

Kehlani and Megan Thee Stallion are friends and collaborators, working together earlier this year on Megan’s “Hit My Phone” from her Suga EP.
