Kendrick Lamar Appears To Diss Big Sean In An Old Song Snippet

Kendrick & Sean have collaborated several times amid rumored tensions.

A snippet has surfaced online that appears to feature Kendrick Lamar dissing Big Sean. Initially spotted by HipHopNMore, the snippet seems to confirm that bad blood did exist between the pair, as had been speculated for years.

In the 11-second snippet, Lamar uses the phrase “Finally famous,” which was the title of Sean’s debut album and several mixtapes. Kendrick raps:

I think his false confidence got him inspired
I can’t make them respect you baby, it’s not my job
You’re finally famous for who you date, not how you rhyme (boy)
Cute ass raps, get your puberty up

The allusion to well-known exes could be a reference to Sean’s dating history with people like Ariana Grande, Naya Rivera, and Jhené Aiko.

Despite the rumored tension, Lamar and Big Sean have worked together regularly. This includes the 2013 track “Control,” where Lamar threw friendly jabs at Sean and Jay Electronica, as well as other artists like Mac Miller, J. Cole, and Drake. They also appeared together on DJ Khaled’s “Holy Key” in 2016 and Sean’s 2012 track “100.”

There was speculation that Sean sent shots at Kendrick on the track “Big Bidness” from his album with Metro Boomin. On it, Sean raps:

Boy, I’ll hop right over you
Who the fuck you think watching over you? (huh?)
I’m God’s favorite, you couldn’t pray a hundred times a day
To have me over through

Lamar’s track “The Heart Part 4” was also speculated to be a Big Sean diss, and HipHopNMore notes that the snippet sounds like it may have been a different version of that track or “ELEMENT.”
