Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, & Future Link Up In Their New Video For “King’s Dead”

James Blake is nowhere to be found.

The Black Panther film drops in less than 12 hours, and Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock decided to squeeze in one last music video before it comes out. The TDE rappers linked up with Future in their new video for “King’s Dead,” the second single off the Black Panther soundtrack. Unlike most of Kendrick’s recent videos, “King’s Dead” is directed by Jack Begert, although he did get some help from the little homies' Dave Free. The song is produced by Teddy Walton and Mike WiLL Made-It.

The clip features the three rappers kicking it around Los Angeles, posing in a palm tree, messing with some office employees, and hanging out in traffic. Meanwhile, Kendrick spits about keeping it real:

Miss me with that bullshit (bullshit)
You ain’t really wild, you a tourist (a tourist)
I be blackin' out with the purist (the purist)
I made a hundred thou' then I freaked it (I freaked it)
I made 500 thou' then I freaked it (I freaked it)
I bought a ‘87 for the weekend (the weekend)

James Blake, who only sings a small interlude on the track, does not appear. One portion of the video appears to be filmed in Los Angeles' Bradbury building, the same setting as Justin Timberlake’s recent “Say Something” video, as well as famous music videos for Cher’s “Take Me Home,” Monica’s “The First Night,” and Tony! Toni! Toné!’s “Let’s Get Down.”

The Black Panther soundtrack also features The Weeknd, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, 2 Chainz, Travis Scott, SZA, Vince Staples, and more. “King’s Dead” is the second video from the soundtrack, following “All the Stars” with Kendrick and SZA.
