Kendrick Lamar & Pharrell Williams Reunite On The ‘Creed II’ Track “The Mantra”

Mike WiLL Made-It handles production.

The Creed II soundtrack, which is curated by Mike WiLL Made-It, arrives later this week in anticipation of the pre-Thanksgiving release of the Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone boxing film. Tonight, Mike WiLL unveiled one of the biggest collaborations from the album. Titled “The Mantra,” it reunites Kendrick Lamar and Pharrell Williams.

Mike WiLL teased the track on Instagram last week, describing it as his previous Pharrell collaboration, “Aries (YuGo),” on steroids with “a fire ass feature.” Earlier today, he said the song is “the perfect blend” and “the closest thing to Starbucks.”

Pharrell previously produced Kendrick’s 2012 song, “good kid,” and the To Pimp a Butterfly protest anthem, “Alright.” More recently, Kendrick appeared on “Don’t Don’t Do It!” and “Kites” from N.E.R.D’s late 2017 album, NO_ONE EVER REALLY DIES.

The Creed II soundtrack drops on November 16 and includes other features from Lil Wayne, J. Cole, Young Thug, 2 Chainz, Vince Staples, A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, 2 Chainz, Nicki Minaj, ScHoolboy Q, Quavo, YG, and more.
